Water Main Under McAleer Creek on Beach Drive NE
This project is taking place from the intersection at Beach Drive NE and 45th Avenue NE, to the bend in Beach Drive near 16578 Beach Drive NE.
In order to connect a water main under McAleer Creek that had been capped off on either side of the creek, the District hired Psomas Engineers to help us identify the best method. Several options were considered in conjunction with the City of Lake Forest Park, and we agreed to use a “boring” machine instead of replacing and connecting the two existing water mains… as shown in the illustration above.
After completing multiple State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) checklists and a Critical Areas report, Ryatt Construction was awarded the project on June 17, 2025, and is starting work on August 11.
In the first week, the contractor will be potholing and working near the intersection of Beach Drive and 45th Avenue NE, along with work on the 4 inch waterline that services residents within the project area on Beach Drive.
During construction, the contractor will need to use a portion of Beach Drive NE to the south of 16578 for roughly one week to lay out the 10” pipe before it is pulled into the bore pit and installed in place.
The boring portion of the project will begin in a few weeks.
