On December 19, 2023, Ron Ricker was sworn in for his ninth term as a Commissioner for North City Water District—representing over fifty years of service to our community.
As a resident of Lake Forest Park since 1957, Ron first became interested in the workings of a water district in the early 1960s, and began attending the District’s routine Board Meetings to learn more.
Several years later when a Board position became vacant, he had become so familiar with the District and its operations that he was unanimously appointed to temporarily fill the position. Within a year, he ran for the position and was publicly elected to the Board—where he has continued to provide immeasurable perspective, insight, and guidance for over fifty years.
Ron’s enthusiasm for the position has never waned: “When I first became a Commissioner, the issues surrounding water all seemed relatively simple, but these days it’s anything but… it’s very complex. And the complexities are fascinating. I’ve gained so much knowledge about something that most people take for granted.”
Ron’s goal has remained unchanged from the beginning: to make proactive decisions that are in the best long-term interest of our community.
