Charlotte Haines has served on the Board of Commissioners since 2002. As an active member of the community, she began the sponsorship of neighborhood groups when the City of Shoreline incorporated in 1995, and founded the North City Neighborhood Association (NCNA).
Her leadership of the NCNA began with a cleanup campaign to remove sidewalk weeds and litter the North City Business District. They also applied for a city grant to purchase the street planters, plants, hanging baskets and banners for the area—you may have seen Charlotte walking in the mornings with a green watering can making sure that these hanging baskets stayed beautiful.
Charlotte has worked with the NCNA to get businesses involved in decorating the streets and their businesses for Christmas, and is always a dedicated helper for North City Water District’s annual “Christmas Tree Lighting” festival, during which the lights are illuminated on top of the reservoir owned by North City Water District.
Charlotte also takes part in the “Celebrate Shoreline” parade and was elected in the past to be the parade’s Grand Marshall because of the work her group had done.
